Outreach

American Pride Woodworking has 10 to 15 wooden bins, roughly 16" X 12", built as part of my voluntary woodworking program. This program is run for the residents from the Granite House Sober Living Facility here in Derry. It teaches young adult males in recovery a trade. They learn the importance of community service while turning rough lumber into a useful item. These bins were then assembled and painted by a small group at Pinkerton Academy called Fostering Student Connections (FSC) run by Valerie Mazzola.

This connection between APW and FSC was all made possible by Sue Centner of Community Alliance for Teen Safety (CATS) of which I am now a proud board member of. The connection between APW and CATS was made through Eric Spofford Founder/Owner of The Granite House Sober Living Facility. This relationship between all parties has and will make a big impact on not only this community but with surrounding communities as well.

We are looking for busy places to leave the bins for active community volunteers to donate to the cause. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We are also in the beginning stages of another project. This project not only has a great chance to make a large impact in our community but also the intentions of making some noise on a much larger scale.
